Federal Law, Regulations, and the Dispensing of Controlled Substances [Webinar]

The ADA was pleased to partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host a webinar on April 25, 2018. The speaker, Loren T. Miller, an associate section chief of the Policy and Liaison Section in the DEA’s Diversion Control Division, addressed the opioid crisis and practitioners’ role in the DEA’s closed system. 

This one hour webinar also covered:

  • The controlled substances most commonly abused.
  • The closed system of distribution enforced by the DEA.
  • The importance of inventories, records, reports and inspections.
  • How to recognize and prevent common methods of diversion.
  • Introducing resources available to practitioners.

Speaker

Loren T. Miller

Mr. Miller currently serves as the Associate Section Chief of the Policy and Liaison Section in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Diversion Control Division.  This section routinely interacts with, and provides information to, the regulated community, associations, and the public. This section also deals with complex questions surrounding the law, regulations, and policy impacting the manufacture, distribution, dispensing, and disposal of controlled substances and listed chemicals. 

He began his career with the Drug Enforcement Administration in 1986 as a Field Diversion Investigator in the Indianapolis Indiana District Office. He became a Group Supervisor in 1997 in the DEA’s Chicago Field Division Office. He was transferred to the DEA’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia in 2005. Mr. Miller served as the Unit Chief over the Processing Operations Unit in the Diversion Control Division’s Registration and Program Support Section.
